QE's story

QE was found sleeping in a stairwell in the dead of winter in Chinatown, Manhattan...she had come into the stairwell through an open door and residents of the dingy apartment building simply stepped over her with no notice.  Marie rented a room in the apartment building for one week just after her previous apartment's ceiling collapsed, and immediately began to gain the small cat's favor when she fed her canned food and pet her back and head.  The little kitty slowly began trusting Marie, and she would tentatively enter Marie's room upon Marie's gentle beckoning.  Marie left her window open at night so that the little cat could come and go from the iron catwalk into her warm bed.  The little cat was afraid of being on the bed - something that Marie finds quite ironic since that is now where QE spends most of her time! 

When Marie left the apartment building after a week for a more permanent place, she couldn't forget the little cat who slept alone in the cold stairwell, asking nothing of the humans who stepped over her.  Marie kept a key to the courtyard without telling the landlord and several days after leaving, Marie initiated "Operation Rescue QE" and snuck back into the building with a cat carrier!  She found the little cat sleeping just as before - on the stairs, curled in a ball trying to get warm from a January wind.  Marie put the little cat into the carrier, quickly stole away, boarded an uptown train and took her to the new apartment.

Soon Marie & QE were bonded, and 7 years later QE still sleeps with Marie in the crook of her arm, purring loudly as she settles into the comfort of companionship and security. 

Now QE is the ruler of the house - has Marie wrapped around her little finger, er, paw...and wants nothing to do with anyone or anything but Marie.  All of the other cats are afriad of QE!  She is the smallest cat for miles, but has the biggest attitude of them all and comands respect from anyone who dares face her! 

QE is the center of this household!
